A compact PRO lens that inherits beautiful, ombré bokeh. This compact, high-performance lens inherits the beautiful, ombré bokeh of the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL F1.2 series and delivers the high image quality befitting a PRO lens.
High resolution: Advanced optical technology delivers high resolution from the center to the edges of the image, befitting an M.ZUIKO PRO. This high-resolution lens is also compatible with High Res Shot. To achieve superior imaging power, the 10-element, 11-group lens construction effectively utilizes one Super ED lens, three ED lenses, two Super HR lenses, and two aspherical lenses. This arrangement ensures sharp images even at the edges of the image, despite the bright F1.4 aperture. Furthermore, the effective use of ZERO Coating optimally suppresses internal reflections within the lens barrel, minimizing ghosting and flare.
Beautifully Blended Bokeh Leveraging the expertise of the M.ZUIKO PRO F1.2 series, which "masters bokeh," we have achieved beautifully blended bokeh, which blends from the focal plane to the out-of-focus area. To achieve this, we used an ultra-precise aberration measurement device developed using high-precision measurement technology cultivated through the development of cutting-edge microscopes. During the basic research phase, we used this measurement device to quantitatively verify the "lens characteristics" of this historic masterpiece. During the development phase, based on the verification results from the basic research phase, this measuring device was used to measure bokeh at the aberration level and optimally control the spherical aberration curve, achieving both beautifully blurred bokeh and high-level resolution. The lens is designed to intentionally focus light rays passing through the outside of the lens toward the front, gradually tilting the curve toward the lens as it moves toward the outside of the lens. By intentionally maintaining optimal spherical aberration, beautifully blurred bokeh is achieved.
Compact and Lightweight: Despite its bright f/1.4 aperture, this lens is compact and lightweight. The lens weighs just 247g, and when paired with the OM-D E-M5 Mark III, the total weight is just 662g. It's easy to carry around and ideal for capturing a variety of photo opportunities.
