This compact, high-performance standard zoom lens was newly developed to fully utilize the performance of the α7 series. Zeiss's Vario-Tessar lens technology is well-suited to the compact size requirements, producing sharp, high-contrast images.
The lens features Zeiss's T* (T-Star) coating, five aspherical elements, and one ED glass element for superior imaging performance, including high contrast and excellent peripheral resolution throughout the zoom range. By effectively suppressing light reflections on the lens surface and increasing lens transmittance, the lens minimizes flare and ghosting, which can degrade image quality, resulting in faithful color reproduction and sharp, clear images. Furthermore, the latest optical design, incorporating five aspherical lenses and one ED glass element, delivers superior imaging performance. Achieve a user-friendly maximum aperture of f/4 throughout the entire zoom range. The constant maximum aperture throughout the zoom range allows you to shoot with the aperture you intended. Even at f/4, telephoto shooting is possible, allowing you to shoot at faster shutter speeds without increasing ISO sensitivity. The circular aperture also produces beautiful bokeh effects. Optical Image Stabilization: The optical image stabilization reduces camera shake, which can easily occur during telephoto shooting or handheld shooting in dark indoor environments. Combined with the camera's built-in image stabilization and handheld night mode, it reduces noise without increasing sensitivity, maintaining image quality, whether capturing night scenes or capturing indoor ambiance. Dust- and splash-resistant design: The lens is designed to prevent dust and water from entering the lens. It's built to withstand the rigors of professional use.
