The lens construction consists of 19 elements in 14 groups, including one Super ED lens and two ED lens elements. The lens minimizes out-of-focus color fringing (axial chromatic aberration), a common issue with large-aperture lenses. The achromatic effect of the cemented E-HR and HR lenses effectively corrects peripheral color fringing (magnification chromatic aberration).
