A high-performance (Star) lens with an F2.8 maximum aperture. This lens, developed as part of the "Star" series, delivers exceptionally sharp, clear imaging power from center to periphery, while minimizing aberrations to achieve ideal image quality. When mounted on a PENTAX K-series digital SLR camera, this telephoto zoom lens provides a 2.9x magnification angle of view equivalent to a focal length of approximately 107-307mm in 35mm format. With a bright maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the entire zoom range, it's ideal for portraits that take advantage of the background blur characteristic of a large-aperture lens, and for sports photography where a high-speed shutter can be used to freeze action.
Using the latest optical technology, the lens features a newly developed proprietary nanotechnology, "Aero Bright Coating II," which uses an ultra-low refractive index film formation process to achieve superior low-reflection characteristics that surpass those of conventional "Aero Bright Coating."
Dust- and Weather-Resistant Construction: The lens boasts an "AW (All Weather)" dust- and weather-resistant construction with 13 sealing points to prevent water droplets and dust from entering the lens interior. When paired with a dust- and weather-resistant PENTAX digital SLR body, it offers improved durability and reliability in rainy, foggy, and splash-prone environments. New Quick-Shift Focus System Switch: To improve the convenience of the Quick-Shift Focus System, which allows you to switch from autofocus to manual focusing without any switching operations, three new switches have been added: QFS/A, QFS/M, and MF. In the autofocus-priority QFS/A mode, you can manually focus after autofocus is complete, while in the manual focus-priority QFS/M mode, you can instantly focus manually even while autofocus is in operation. In MF mode, you can quickly switch to MF on the lens, allowing for smoother and more accurate focusing depending on the subject. Other: In-lens motor-driven AF achieves quiet and smooth autofocusing.
