Optical design for the ultimate in image quality. This telephoto zoom lens boasts a bright f/2.8 aperture throughout its entire zoom range, and features a 16-group, 23-element design to deliver best-in-class image quality. Six ED lens elements, including one Super ED (anomalous dispersion) lens element, offer optical performance comparable to that of fluorite lenses, minimizing chromatic aberration and achieving superior resolution. The entire lens surface is treated with Fujifilm's proprietary multi-layer coating, HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating), which suppresses ghosting and flare, resulting in sharp, clear images. It also features newly developed Nano GI coating technology. By gently controlling the refractive index of light as it enters the lens, light reflection is suppressed, effectively reducing ghosting and flare even with obliquely incident light. The seven circular aperture blades produce smooth, circular bokeh. Beautiful bokeh is also achieved in both the foreground and background. The optical system maintains the overall length of the lens even with zooming. This minimizes changes in weight balance with zooming, ensuring comfortable operation. Pairing this lens with an X Series camera body that supports Point Image Reconstruction Processing, which maximizes lens performance, corrects diffraction that occurs when shooting with a narrow aperture, based on the lens's optical performance and characteristics, resulting in sharp, high-resolution images. The world's first "Triple Linear Motor" AF focusing system utilizes an inner focus mechanism for high-speed AF. The lightweight focus lens and the "Triple Linear Motor," which employs three linear motors spaced 120° apart in the lens drive section, enable quieter, faster, and more accurate AF. Pairing this lens with an X Series body that supports phase-detection AF allows for even faster AF and more comfortable shooting. Combined with a quiet shutter sound, you can capture images without disrupting the atmosphere of the space you're shooting in. Equipped with a high-performance gyro sensor for powerful image stabilization performance at the highest level in its class. Because the signal output by the gyro sensor contains noise (drift components), it is necessary to suppress drift components to improve image stabilization accuracy. This lens achieves the highest level of image stabilization performance in its class by developing an algorithm that eliminates drift components and extracts only the blur components. Combined with a bright f/2.8 aperture across the entire zoom range, it enables high-quality images even when shooting handheld at telephoto zoom, where camera shake is more likely to occur. Dustproof, Weatherproof, and Low-Temperature Operation: Each lens barrel is sealed to ensure dustproof, weatherproof, and can withstand temperatures as low as -10°C.
