This long-awaited E-mount, large-aperture F2.8 telephoto zoom lens boasts an F2.8 maximum aperture, covering the frequently used zoom range from 70mm to 200mm. As befits the G Master designation, it not only delivers exceptional imaging performance but also the high level of functionality required of an F2.8 telephoto zoom. It features a newly developed XA (extreme aspherical) lens element for superior resolution without compromising beautiful bokeh, ED (extra-low dispersion) and Super ED glass elements for reduced color fringing, and, for the first time in an α zoom lens, a floating mechanism for a minimum focusing distance of 0.96m and a maximum magnification of 0.25x. The focus lens element group is driven by a ring drive SSM and a double linear motor for high-speed, high-precision driving. Other features include image stabilization, a focus hold button, a focus range limiter, a first for an α lens, a detachable revolving tripod mount, and a dust- and weather-resistant design, all of which contribute to a comfortable shooting experience.
