The AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR features an optical system with well-balanced optical performance that maximizes image quality. It employs an ED aspherical lens, a first for a NIKKOR lens, as well as other ED, aspherical, and high-refractive index (HRI) lenses, effectively correcting chromatic and other aberrations for the ultimate in image quality. Its high resolution surpasses that of previous models, delivering sharp, high-contrast images even at the edges of the image. Its large aperture, a maximum aperture of f/2.8, delivers even more beautiful, natural, and soft bokeh. The Nano Crystal Coat technology delivers clear images with minimal ghosting and flare, even in backlit situations. This lens features a new, advanced VR mechanism with a 4.0-stop image stabilization effect. This VR mechanism, not available in previous models, effectively reduces blurring in the viewfinder and image due to camera shake, a common issue when shooting handheld at dusk or in dark scenes. Improved VR performance immediately after powering on the camera ensures a stable viewfinder image and blur-free images immediately after starting shooting. The lens barrel layout has also been improved, taking advantage of the slim design while achieving both high optical performance and the VR mechanism.
