This 35mm full-frame motorized zoom lens was developed to fully utilize the performance of the α7 series 35mm full-frame cameras. Its meticulous operability and optical design meet the demanding needs of professionals.
Superior optical technology enables high-level 4K video production. To achieve high-level 4K video production, the lens minimizes angle-of-view fluctuations (breathing) during focusing and axis misalignment during zooming. Furthermore, various aberrations are suppressed by the use of aspherical lenses that suppress aberrations and multi-coatings that are resistant to backlight. This enables high-resolution imaging from the center to the edges.
Operability Refined to Meet the High Demands of Professionals: Three control rings for zoom, focus, and aperture allow for one-man operation, enabling smooth manual operation required for large-format video production. The zoom ring controls a wide range of zoom speeds, from slow to fast, and can even reverse the zoom direction. The focus ring switches between AF and MF by simply sliding it toward you without releasing your hand. The focus ring also has a large rotation angle, allowing for smooth, precise manual focusing. Focusing does not change the overall length of the lens, ensuring fast AF. Furthermore, the three rings provide just the right amount of torque, ensuring a smooth response to the photographer's intentions. The knurling on each ring is designed to be non-slip and easy to use.
Quiet Design for Video Shooting: Along with ease of operation, the quiet operation required for professional videography is also taken into consideration. Despite its large aperture, the lens employs an SSM (Ultrasonic Motor) for agile and quiet zooming. Furthermore, the lightweight focus group, highly responsive and quiet focus drive thanks to a linear motor, and smooth iris (aperture) drive further expand the range of visual expression.
Equipped with optical image stabilization The optical image stabilization function reduces the camera shake that tends to occur when shooting handheld in dark places such as indoors.
