This super-telephoto zoom G lens covers 400mm to 800mm. It is the first α lens* to cover a focal length of 800mm. With the use of an optional teleconverter, shooting up to 1600mm is possible. Various aberrations, such as chromatic aberration that often occur at the ultra-telephoto range, are effectively suppressed through the effective placement of elements, including six ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements. This ensures high resolution from the center to the periphery. In addition, flare and ghosting are effectively suppressed, and spherical aberrations are optimized, resulting in the natural, soft bokeh characteristic of G lenses. The 11-blade circular aperture maintains the circular bokeh of point light sources, even when slightly stopped down. Superior close-up performance for expanded expression. With a minimum focusing distance of 1.7m (wide-angle end) and a maximum magnification of 0.23x, this lens offers outstanding close-up performance, further expanding the creative possibilities of creative professionals.
