Compact, lightweight, and dustproof/wet-resistant for unparalleled mobility. Ultra-telephoto lenses are large and heavy, so using a tripod or monopod is the norm. Olympus has given this high-performance ultra-telephoto lens superior mobility, expanding the scope of handheld shooting. Compared to a 600mm f/4.0 lens in a 35mm full-frame format, it weighs just 1270g (excluding the tripod mount) and is half the length at 227mm (φ92.5mm). Locations where tripods or monopods were previously unavailable and difficult to bring into the camera are now open to new shooting scenarios. Not only does it reduce the burden of carrying equipment, but it also reduces the risk of transportation when traveling by plane, allowing you to carry both the camera body and the super-telephoto lens on board. Though compact, the camera boasts dustproof and weatherproof performance with 17 sealed sections and freezeproof performance down to -10°C. When paired with the OM-D E-M1/E-M5 Mark II, which also boasts the same dustproof, weatherproof, and freezeproof capabilities, it's perfect for any weather or location. The MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) mechanism ensures quiet AF operation, making it ideal for shooting in quiet locations, such as piano recitals, when combined with the OM-D's silent mode. Olympus' highest resolution ever, surpassing the Super High-Grade lenses. This lens achieves the highest resolution ever, surpassing the Four Thirds System's highly acclaimed Super High-Grade (SHG) lenses. It utilizes a lavish array of special lens elements, including three difficult-to-process Super ED lens elements, one E-HR lens element, and three HR lens elements, to minimize color bleeding and chromatic aberrations, issues often associated with super-telephoto lenses, ensuring high resolution. Furthermore, Olympus' optical design and manufacturing technologies are combined to achieve high resolution and a compact size through the use of high-precision large-diameter lenses and thin-glass polished lenses. Furthermore, the newly developed "Z Coating Nano" coating technology significantly reduces ghosting and flare in backlit situations, resulting in sharp, clear images. It is especially effective when shooting with a strong light source within the frame. By using the dedicated teleconverter "M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14" with this lens, you can use it as a lens equivalent to 840mm in 35mm format while maintaining its high resolution.
High-speed, high-precision AF when combined with the "OM-D E-M1/E-M5 Mark II"
Telemacro function allows you to get as close as approximately 1.15m from the end of the lens (minimum focusing distance of 1.4m). With a maximum shooting magnification of 0.48x (35mm equivalent), it is effective for photographing flowers, insects, and other objects.
Equipped with a "Manual Focus Clutch Mechanism" that switches to manual focus by pulling the focus ring toward you. The lens barrel is also equipped with a focus limit switch (4m to infinity, full range, 1.4 to 4m), IS switch (ON/OFF), and L-Fn button, allowing you to change settings without holding the lens.
