The product is in a special package and includes a display background to coincide with the completion date of December 17, 1941. The product is in a kit format that requires assembly.
It is 1/700 scale.
No painting required: Each part is colored with its own molding color, and some parts are painted with stickers to create different colors.
No glue required: The parts are designed to fit together for easy assembly
The first of the Yamato-class battleships, the Yamato, was completed in December 1941 as a culmination of large shipbuilding techniques from the Kongo-class to the Nagato-class.
With a standard displacement of 64,000 tons and a 46-cm main gun, it was the best in the world in all respects, and it was the flagship of the Combined Fleet at last, and in the Battle of Midway it served as the flagship for Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, commander-in-chief of the main fleet.
Later, as aircraft became the main force in the battle, Yamato was modified by removing some of its secondary guns and increasing its anti-aircraft weapons. In October 1944, it participated in Operation Sho-Ichi-Go/Leyte Gulf, and in April 1945, it set out to crush the US forces that had landed on Okinawa, but met its end after being attacked by numerous US carrier-based aircraft.
The package is a different photo from the previous product, of a real ship, taken during the Yamato sea trials in October 1941.
As an appendix, we have prepared a background paper for the completed display (one side is a full-color background picture, the other side is a monochrome actual photo)
The background paper is approximately 141 x 556 mm in size and U-shaped.
The product is based on the ship's appearance when it was completed in December 1941, shortly after the outbreak of the Pacific War. The ship's bottom and hull parts are separated at the waterline, so you can make both an offshore model and a full hull model.
The differences in shape between the final version and the 1944 version have been recreated using special parts. The hull is divided into left and right sections, and is divided at the waterline.
Molded in a special grey colour that mimics the warship colours used at the Kure Naval Arsenal.
The portholes are specially made to look like they were before they were blocked off as part of a later measure to make the ship unsinkable, and many of them are recreated with sharp carvings.
The outside electrical wiring attached to the side of the ship is faithfully reproduced, even down to the fastening parts.
The bottom of the ship is made into a one-piece part using a slide mold.
No need to process seams
The bulbous bow of the bow is realistically reproduced with three-dimensional modeling.
The rudder is three-dimensional, with a square shape different from that of the third ship, Shinano.
The rudder surface is detailed with even the joints of the steel plates being recreated.
The main gun can be elevated and rotated
Achieves both a minimum number of parts and realistic modeling
The 46cm main barrel is open using a slide mold.
The main gun canopy is a special part that does not have the additional machine gun mount installed.
The secondary gun is rotatable, and the barrel and turret are integrated into one piece structure.
The bridge is made of a split and slide mold to minimize the seams between the parts, and the parts are integrated.
The bridge parts also come with a special part that recreates the signal control station, a feature of the ship when it was first built.
The 15-meter rangefinder and compass are designed to be rotatable.
The signal deck behind the bridge is small, so we have prepared parts specifically for the ship at the time of completion.
The chimney is a left-right combination, and the steam exhaust pipe, whistle pipe, and monkey ladder are all depicted as a single piece.
The top cap (lattice) is missing, creating a very realistic shape with a sense of depth.
The mast is a two-piece structure, designed to be easy to assemble and have a good shape.
Two aircraft types are included with special dark green color parts.
One A6M Zero (three-seater) floatplane and one A6M Zero observation aircraft
The panel lines are engraved, and the propeller is integrated with the fuselage using a slide mold for precise expression.
Comes with pre-cut stickers with excellent adhesion that allow for easy painting of the details
Includes waterproof canvas for the main and secondary guns, a walkway behind the No. 3 main gun, the naval ensign, and the Hinomaru mark for aircraft carriers.
Comes with a black base designed with an inconspicuous straight line motif for display after completion.
Bonus adhesive parts are included for users who want a more precise feel.
Bonus parts include 26 machine gun ammunition boxes, mast support, and antenna support on the secondary gun canopy.
Molded parts come in 6 colors
(Kure Naval Arsenal color, ship bottom color, black, white, wooden deck color, dark green) *This product is made in Japan.
