Please understand in advance. THE ZOOT 16 is a solo unit by Toshimi Watanabe of TOKYO No.1 SOUL SET. This unit, which has seen various members participate in a fluid manner over the years, now has a fixed lineup of five members: Kennel Aoki (Steelpan), Mitsuboshi Akihiro (Percussion), Takahashi Tomu (G, B&Vo), Makoto U.S.A (Dr), and Tanaka Yuji (Sax). They are active as a top-notch live band, performing danceable, stateless grooves based on rock. Following their self-cover studio live album released in January 2026 (digital only), they have finally completed a new original album. Described in various ways—rock you can dance to in clubs, dance beats overflowing with punk spirit, and folk music with stateless rhythms—they have established their own unique music with Toshimi's sense as a melancholic and manly melody maker and the stylish ensemble created by the members' outstanding skills. Toshimi, who is approaching 60, brilliantly proves in this new work that he still retains a youthful and innocent spirit.
