The Earthworks M30 G2 30 kHz measurement microphone is a high-performance reference microphone designed for acoustic measurement applications. It is used for sound system tuning, room acoustics, speaker design, SPL (sound pressure level) measurement, and more. With exceptional audio performance, a rugged stainless steel body, and an XLR output, Earthworks M Series microphones have been the ideal reference in the pro audio world since 1995. A separate calibration chart is included, showing the frequency response curve, 1 kHz sensitivity, and 250 Hz sensitivity. 30 kHz Measurement Microphone Features The Earthworks M30 G2 30 kHz measurement microphone is a high-performance reference microphone designed for acoustic measurement applications. Each microphone comes with a separate calibration chart, showing the frequency response curve, 1 kHz sensitivity, and 250 Hz sensitivity. Reduced Phantom Power Consumption: 48V phantom power current consumption has been reduced to 7.2 mA, down from 10 mA in Gen 1. This extends the battery life of the wireless transmitter and improves compatibility with certain audio interfaces, even when using multiple microphones. Reduced 1 kHz Sensitivity: 1 kHz sensitivity has been reduced to -40 dBV/Pa (10 mV/Pa), providing compatibility with more common audio interfaces. Some interfaces cannot handle input signal levels above 10 dBV. This update is especially important for SPL measurement and monitoring applications, where the entire input signal path (microphone, preamp, and interface) must be able to handle 140 dB SPL without clipping.
- More Compact Form Factor: The M30 G2 is approximately 4 cm (just over 1.5 inches) shorter than the Gen 1, reducing storage space and weight. Only the body has been shortened; the iconic tapered tip design remains the same as the Gen 1.
- Carry Case and Windscreen Included: The M30 G2 microphone comes with a rugged carry case and OMW2 windscreen. Audio Performance: Wide Bandwidth and Flat Frequency Response: M-Series Microphones: Each microphone is individually tuned to ensure the flattest possible frequency response. The M30 G2's rated flat range (within ±1 dB) is extremely wide, extending from 5 Hz to 30 kHz. Outside this flat range, the response gradually rolls off. Outside this range, the response is as follows:
- Low-frequency -3dB cutoff: 3Hz or less
- High-frequency -3dB cutoff: at least 40kHz or more. 1kHz Sensitivity: Sensitivity refers to the signal level a microphone outputs at a specific sound pressure level (SPL). Microphone sensitivity is typically measured with a 1kHz or 250Hz sine wave input at 94dB SPL (equivalent to 1 Pascal of air pressure). Therefore, microphone sensitivity is typically expressed in dBV/Pa (or mV/Pa). The M30 G2's 1kHz sensitivity is -40 dBV/Pa (10 mV/Pa) with a tolerance of ±2dB. The actual measured values for each M30 G2 microphone are listed on the included calibration chart. Polar Pattern: Earthworks M Series
- Microphones have a highly consistent omnidirectional pattern across the entire frequency range. This is particularly advantageous for accurate room acoustics measurements where sound arrives from all directions. Earthworks M Series Impulse Response Microphones: Every element of these microphones—their small, lightweight diaphragms, tips, and bodies, their physical and acoustic design, and even their internal electronics—is optimized to deliver the fastest, cleanest impulse response possible. This makes them particularly effective for time-domain measurements such as speaker and PA system alignment and audio event identification and localization. They also deliver unprecedented levels of accuracy and realism in audio recording. ■Management Code: 4533940371894 Category: PA Equipment, Microphones, Condenser Microphones, Musical Instruments, Crafts, and Collectibles, Musical Instruments, Equipment, Recording, PA Equipment, Condenser Microphones JAN/ISBN Code: 4533940371894 Product Code: mt0188479
