Newly developed approximately 25.2MP back-illuminated CMOS image sensor delivers high resolution, high-speed performance, and on-chip phase-detection AF. The newly developed back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with an effective pixel count of approximately 25.2 million pixels combines a wide dynamic range with fast response time, while delivering high-precision on-chip phase-detection AF. The optical low-pass filter-less design maximizes high resolution performance, capturing precise subject detail. The increased pixel count also improves saturation performance, resulting in smooth, rich tonal gradation. The faster readout speed enables faster continuous shooting, suppressing rolling shutter distortion even when shooting moving subjects at high speed with the electronic shutter, while capturing high-resolution images. The ISO sensitivity can be set from ISO100, and high-resolution video recording is supported, including 5.7K 60p. The high-speed readout performance also enables Cinema4K and 4K high-frame-rate 120p shooting. Log shooting support for rich gradation and flexible grading. Equipped with V-Log/V-Gamut, Log shooting delivers beautiful image expression with a detailed dynamic range from dark to highlight, rich gradation, and a wide color gamut. Furthermore, when shooting V-Log, the Log View Assist function displays the image after applying a LUT in the viewfinder or monitor, allowing you to check the final look. Furthermore, when combining video recorded with a V-Log compatible LUMIX S series digital SLR camera, Panasonic VARICAM series digital cinema camera, or V-Log L compatible LUMIX G series digital SLR camera, editing can be performed with consistent image quality in post-production.
13+ Stop Dynamic Range Boost for HDR Images. The dynamic range boost function combines a saturation-priority image generated by the image sensor's low ISO circuit with a low-noise-priority image generated by the high ISO circuit at a blending ratio appropriate for each pixel based on the amount of light. This achieves smooth HDR shooting with low noise and high saturation, resulting in rich gradation. When taking photos, this effectively enhances the dark gradation in RAW data in particular. Furthermore, when shooting video, especially in V-Log, the camera achieves 13+ stops of dynamic range, the largest among LUMIX Micro Four Thirds cameras. Despite being a high-resolution Micro Four Thirds camera with a small pixel pitch, it can capture wide-ranging images with minimal blown-out highlights and crushed shadows, even in scenes with large contrasts between indoor indirect light and outdoor sunlight. The new-generation Venus Engine, featuring L2 Technology (L Square Technology), jointly developed by Leica and Panasonic, maximizes image sensor performance and improves image quality and AF performance. It quickly processes image information output from the high-resolution sensor, resulting in high-definition, natural-looking textures. Furthermore, new Intelligent Detail Processing and noise reduction deliver superior processing performance for high image quality, high sensitivity, and color reproduction in both still and video shooting, and it also quickly processes high-resolution video, including 5.7K 60p 10-bit recording. Faster processing and an improved AF algorithm significantly improve subject detection, enabling it to distinguish between the subject's movement and characteristics for highly accurate AF. Advanced Real-Time Recognition AF utilizes on-chip phase detection AF for highly accurate AF performance. Real-Time Recognition AF allows you to combine the optimal AF mode for each shooting scene. The combination of on-chip phase detection AF (779 AF points) and conventional contrast AF (315 AF points) with advanced recognition AF covers a wide focus range, enabling flexible focusing for both photos and videos. Advanced Recognition AF: Developed with deep learning technology, the recognition AI now recognizes smaller subjects quickly and accurately, even in the existing People Recognition and Animal Recognition functions. In addition to the existing recognition targets, the camera also features Animal Eye Recognition, Car Recognition, Motorcycle Recognition, Airplane Recognition, and Train Recognition. By combining distance information, it achieves highly accurate focusing performance for both still and video shooting. Versatile Focus Functions Support a Variety of Shooting Environments: Versatile focus functions are useful for changing weather conditions, shooting environments, and various subjects. By selecting the optimal AF function for the shooting scene and subject, you can concentrate on capturing the perfect shot. Auto-Recognition AF allows you to combine various AF modes for greater flexibility, allowing you to select the optimal combination for each shooting scene. What's more, the joystick supports eight-way operation (vertical, horizontal, and diagonal) for speedy AF operation. AF Point Scope function allows you to enlarge and check distant subjects. The AF Point Scope function allows you to enlarge and check the focused area when you focus on the desired subject. Utilizing the strengths of the live viewfinder, you can enlarge the subject to check the focus or observe the subject like a telescope.
