[Innovative style for the future of coastal defense]
Mogami is the first ship of the Mogami-class destroyer, which was commissioned in April 2022. To improve stealth, the hull and bridge are constructed with slanted planes. She is equipped with equipment for removing mines below the flight deck, making her the first destroyer to acquire anti-mine warfare capabilities. Twelve ships of the same type are scheduled to be built, and deployment to minesweeper groups and escort fleets is underway.
