Bought it so I can do some wider perspective shots when shooting outdoor scenery or buildings. The lens is small and light so not a drag at all to bring around and actually quite fast and sharp. I am using an Olympus OMD EM5 with this. Buy the international version as it is the same and really quite a bit cheaper.

I chose this lens after seeing the price for the 7-14mm lens which I originally wanted. However, the difference in the wide angle FOV is not enough to matter most of the time, and at only 40% of the cost I am not complaining! The lens is perfectly good for outdoor and well lit indoor photos and still gives enough wide-angle to get most of those indoor shots where you want to get most of the room, or a large group, into the picture. I have found I like the range, (which is equivalent to 18-36mm in a 35mm). At the longest setting it is a perfect "all-purpose" lens, and I have it on the camera most of the time. There have been some reviews that complain about the weird way the zoom works, where you have to "unlock" it and turn it a quarter turn to get it started. Yes, it *IS* sorta weird, but it has not been a problem for me. Just a quick extra step when you first use it.

Buying this international version of the lens saved me $100 and I consider that a great deal. As far as I can tell, the only difference is that this has no long-term warranty coverage. But if came broken, I could still return it. I was worried that discovery japan estimated that shipping could take more than a month, but it arrived all the way from Asia to SF in less than 48 hours. Wow! I ordered it through "CW US". Other merchants may vary. I've only taken a few pics with the lens so far, but it seems to work fine. You can find many good reviews of the lens itself on the US version product page.
