★★★★★  A Prinz Of A Kit
Date posted : Sunday, Oct 6 2019

What can I say, it's a Tamiya kit and even though it's the first 700th scale Tamiya kit I've built, the quality is up to the standards of their larger offerings. The only downside I saw were the battle flags. They were made of paper that had to be cut out and glued together. In this scale, I would have much preferred a waterslide version such as those in Trumpeter's kit of the Bismarck I recently finished.Other than the flag issue, the fit was excellent, there was no flash to be removed and the kit was easy to assemble, even for my 66 year old hands and eyes. I love these small ships and plan on adding more to my fleet in the future, especially those I served on in the US Navy when I can find them.

[Product Introduction]
TAMIYA 1/700 Waterline Series "1/700 German Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen".
[About ``Prinz Eugen'']
The German Navy's Prinz Eugen was commissioned in August 1940 as the third Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruiser. A large ship with a standard displacement of over 14,000 tons and equipped with four powerful 20.3cm twin guns. In May 1941, she sortied into Operation Rhine in the Atlantic Ocean, sinking the British battlecruiser Hood along with the battleship Bismarck, and also caused heavy damage to the battleship Prince of Wales. In February 1942, together with the battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, they successfully completed the ``Channel Dash'' in broad daylight, crossing the Strait of Dover from the French port of Brest to Germany, just a stone's throw away from Britain. It became one of the few German ships that fought until the end of the war. After the war, in 1946, she became a target ship for the American atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll, and after the test ended, she capsized and ran aground in the shallow waters of Kwajalein Atoll, where she can still be seen today.
[About the model]
This is a plastic model assembly kit of the German heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen. A realistic model of a style full of functional beauty. You can select and assemble the 1941 "Line Exercise Operation" and the 1942 "Channel Dash" with five 20mm quadruple machine guns added. The hull is divided into left and right parts, and the subtle lines on the sides are realistically reproduced. Details such as weapons, searchlights, and carrier-based aircraft are also sharply finished.
