High image quality achieved with special low-dispersion glass and nanoporous coating. The optimal placement of one FLD glass element and five SLD glass elements suppresses chromatic aberrations all the way to the edges of the image. Three aspherical elements, including a large-diameter aspherical element at the front, effectively suppress coma and other aberrations while achieving stunning resolution. In addition to the Super Multi-Layer Coating, the newly developed Nanoporous Coating is also used. This lens is designed to be less susceptible to strong light, such as backlight.
Comprehensive features to support comfortable shooting even in tough environments. The use of a stepping motor provides both fast and quiet AF drive. It allows for comfortable shooting with target AF such as face/eye priority AF and video recording. The AFL button, which can be assigned various functions, also expands the range of operations on the lens side. In addition to a dust-proof and splash-proof mechanism, the front of the lens is coated with a water-repellent and dirt-resistant coating.
