Recreate the scenes of firing practice and parade parades!
87AW with troops is now available as a spot product!
The product is a 1/72 scale unpainted kit that requires assembly and painting.

The Type 87 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun is the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's only standalone anti-aircraft weapon capable of a full range of anti-aircraft combat operations, from target search and tracking to firing.
It is deployed in active duty as a close-in anti-aircraft support weapon that accompanies armored units and can counter enemy anti-tank helicopters, etc.

Development began in 1982 as an update to the M42 Duster.

Initially, it was planned to be developed based on the chassis of the Type 61 tank, but due to size issues, it was designed and developed based on the Type 74 tank, and was officially adopted in 1987.

The main gun is equipped with two Oerlikon KDA 35mm machine guns, a search radar/tracking radar at the rear of the turret, and a laser rangefinder, infrared night vision device, and TV camera as backups.

In addition, by using armor-piercing ammunition prepared separately for anti-aircraft fire, it has the versatility to be used against armored vehicles as well.

The body of the tank has a silhouette that looks like a different vehicle due to its larger volume compared to the Type 74 tank.

52 vehicles were procured and are currently deployed to the 7th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment (Higashi-Chitose),
2nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion (Asahikawa),
Anti-Aircraft School (Chiba),
and Weapons School (Tsuchiura).

It is one of the main pieces of equipment that can be seen firing live ammunition at the Fuji Comprehensive Firepower Exercise held every summer.

Overview: Type 87 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, produced in 2018 and after, with improved quality and specifications for the 1/72 series.

2 cars included
- Evolving to a new standard of 1/72, with detailed expression design that is on par with 1/48 and 1/35, including welding marks and anti-slip surfaces that have tended to be omitted in the past.

- The headlights, periscope, infrared night vision device, and other parts are made transparent.

The included decals are carefully researched to include the unit and vehicle number, and include vehicles actually deployed.

Features: Easy to make and precise reproduction: The turret is molded as a single piece using a slide mold.

The number of parts has been kept to a minimum at 109, while parts that require precise reproduction are made into separate parts.

- The upper and bottom surfaces of the vehicle accurately replicate the weld marks and anti-slip areas found on the real thing.

- A completely new design that accurately recreates the actual vehicle - Features such as the taper angle of the 35mm barrel and the position of the maximum thrust are minutely reproduced in 1/72 scale plastic parts
・You can choose between the early model's triple-barrel smoke grenade launcher and the later model's quadruple-barrel smoke grenade launcher.

- The tracks are fitted with rubber pads as seen at military reviews.

・The laser range finder and infrared night vision device are made of transparent parts.
・The headlights and periscope are made of transparent parts.
・The underside of the vehicle reproduces the pilot's emergency escape hatch and weld marks, which are often omitted.

- The towing wire at the rear of the vehicle is a separate part to allow for painting.
- The included decals are of a niche nature - The basic markings such as vehicle numbers, affiliation markings, and unit markings cover all units, including "2nd High-Speed Special Forces", "7th High-Speed Special Forces", "Anti-Fire School", and "Weapons School".

- Also included are the unique two-digit number of the anti-aircraft school, and the "be careful when overtaking" signs when driving on public roads that will make you want to create a diorama of Chitose's C route.

- Includes vehicles that have had their flags raised during review marches at each garrison, and vehicles with distinctive markings in the past, with an equal number of 3/4-engine vehicles.

・ Includes parts for 3 or more soldiers (you can make more than 3 by selecting whether or not to include an ammunition belt)
・ Parts are divided into 4 pieces: head, right arm, left arm, upper and lower body, and you can change the pose by combining them
- Content that includes poses such as sitting, standing, shooting, saluting, and flag-bearing
For ground use, shooting is the main focus.

- There are three types of heads, with two parts of each included on one runner.

Choose from armored helmet and goggles, armored helmet, or Type 88 steel helmet
(Runner A) The helmet is delicately sculpted to recreate the appearance of the headset.

- Chest to lower body parts come in sitting and standing poses, with 6 types, 1 part each, included on 1 runner
(Runner B) - Includes versions with or without ammunition belt and suspenders, leaning forward to aim the vehicle-mounted machine gun, and standing upright when saluting.

- The right arm comes in 19 different poses, including a flagpole.

(R Runner) Includes styles of holding the hatch and on-board machine gun, saluting, pointing, and the arm and flagpole of the flag bearer during inspection.

(L-runner) Includes poses of grasping the hatch area and the onboard machine gun, as well as poses of grasping when seated in the vehicle.

- Molded parts are made up of two colors: gray and clear.
