Zuikaku was the second Shoukaku-class aircraft carrier, planned under the Maru 3 Plan at the same time as the Yamato-class battleships, and was completed at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Shipyard in September 1941, just before the outbreak of the Pacific War.
Together with the first ship, Shokaku, the 5th Air Squadron was formed and participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Battle of the Coral Sea was the first naval battle between aircraft carriers in history.
Due to the loss of Akagi and the other four ships, which were the mainstay of the air force, Zuikaku continued to be the core of the task force until the Battle of the Mariana Islands in June 1944.
And in October of the same year, at the end of the war, as Operation Sho-Ichi-Go was launched, it was dispatched to lure the US task force, and was destroyed in an air attack.
(Structure and specifications) This is a kit that requires assembling gray molded parts using adhesive.
- Painting is required except for the pre-painted flight deck
(Product Features) The product is based on the appearance in October 1944 (Operation Sho-Ichi-Go).
- The final appearance of the ship, with an additional machine gun mount on the bow and No. 21 radar, is reproduced with special parts.
The hull and fleet are divided into left and right parts.
- The bottom of the ship and the hull are separated at the waterline, and the bottom of the ship is a single part on the left and right
- Delicate carvings all around express the outside electrical wiring
- The engine air intake and sponson supports are detailed with three-
Dimensional engravings.
Flight deck ★Unlike the standard version, the difficult-to-paint camouflage pattern is pre-painted.
- The flight deck is a one-piece, seamless design
- The elevator and windbreak fence are separate parts, allowing you to choose between ascending/descending and standing/storing.
- Expansion joints, wooden decks, split patterns, etc. are expressed with delicate carvings
Outfitting: Some of the side sponsons are separate parts to ensure accurate reproduction.
The chimney is made up of two pieces, top and bottom, and the lattice structure of the exhaust port is also a separate part, allowing for a sense of depth to be recreated.
- The bow and stern machine gun turrets are in their final form with three seats, and are reproduced with special parts.
-Special parts are provided for the No. 21 radar, a feature of the model from 1942 onwards, and the rocket launcher, a feature of Operation Sho-Ichi-Go.
Aircraft included: 4 types of aircraft: Zero Fighter Type 52, Zero Fighter Type 21 (with bombs), Type 97 Carrier Attack Aircraft, and Tenzan
- Two Zero fighters and one of each of the others included
- Masking sheets are included to assist with camouflage painting of the sides of the ship.
- Cut along the printed outline of the camouflage pattern and use for masking work.
