[Settings explanation] "Definition Armor" is a new category of weapons that aims to be small and low-cost by applying the technology of "Bulkarm α", a successful humanoid bipedal heavy Hexa Gear.
The initial components in development are constructed as a system with a new type of reinforced exoskeleton at its core, with the governor covered in simple armor and a power unit, and legs, arms, and other working limbs connected to the outer periphery.
This "Scarecrow"-like specification was touted as a new type of reinforced exoskeleton that would be highly mass-producible and allow infantry to use heavy weaponry, and was put into field testing. However, since it was not as robust as the Bulkarm α and only a simple bipedal walking device was provided, it was evaluated as having "mediocre performance in every aspect."
Thus, in search of the optimum solution for the Definition Armor as a weapon, the company decided to undergo modifications to further reduce its weight and improve its mass production.
The new model, which is equipped with a large thruster at the rear, is called the "Aerial Fighter" and allows for high-speed deployment through low-altitude jump maneuvers that were not possible with the Bulkarm series.
The legs were a minimal frame structure capable of supporting the body, and the working limbs that made up the arms had been simplified to be used only for suspending weapons, making it difficult to describe the appearance as "humanoid." However, due to its cavalry-like high linear acceleration, it was found to be useful for ground assault forces, and eventually led to a certain number of mass production.
Although initially poorly received, the name "Woodpecker" became widely known as it was equipped with a single stunning lance and could ground slow-moving enemy aircraft with a single sharp stab, and the sight of an extremely small unit using its mobility as a weapon to face off against heavy-weight Hexa Gear brought enough shock to the battlefield to remind people of the arrival of a new generation.
