PLATZ 1/72 Air Self-Defense Force T-1B Initial paint all white. PLATZ AC73 Released in January 2023
[Product Introduction]
PLATZ 1/72 Air Self-Defense Force T-1B Initial paint all white.
[About the actual aircraft]
The prototype T1F2 successfully made its first flight on January 19, 1958. In 1959, the Orface engine-equipped version was formalized as the T-1A and mass production was decided. The T-1A, whose first mass-produced aircraft was delivered in September 1960, was mainly deployed to the 13th Flight Instruction Group and demonstrated its power in training new pilots. The T-1 was the first jet trainer developed in Japan after World War II. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force needed a jet aircraft to serve as a secondary training aircraft for its post-war pilot training program. Therefore, they decided to develop a domestically produced jet trainer. The aircraft developed by Fuji Heavy Industries had an ambitious design, including a tandem seat layout and swept-swept main wings. The first prototype made its first flight in 1958. Furthermore, the domestically produced turbojet engine, J3, was completed. When mass production began at Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries, the T-1's engine was switched to the domestically produced J3. The T-1 equipped with this engine was named T-1B, and 20 aircraft were produced and deployed from 1962 to 1963.
[About the model]
This is a plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the T-1B, a domestic jet trainer operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, on a 1/72 scale. The distinctive aircraft shape and design, including the cockpit with swept wings and a two-seater tandem layout, are reproduced with a total length of approximately 168 mm. In addition to panel lines, details such as legs and cockpit interior are modeled in detail. You can assemble with your own hands an indispensable piece of Japanese aviation history. This kit models the T-1B equipped with a domestic engine. At the beginning of its introduction, the aircraft was made of unpainted natural metal, but from around 1965 it was completely painted white to prevent salt damage. The model reproduces the white painting era. The markings are reproduced with decals made by Cartograph, including two aircraft from the 13th Flight Education Group (Ashiya Base) around 1965 and the 857th aircraft from the Experimental Air Corps (Gifu Base) in 1985.
[Main Features]
