Azuchi Castle was a castle located in Gamo District, Omi Province (Azuchi Town, Gamo District, Shiga Prefecture). Hirayama Castle. In 1576 (Tensho 4), Oda Nobunaga began construction on the shores of Lake Biwa in Omi Province, and the castle was abandoned shortly after Nobunaga's death in 1582 (Tensho 10). The first castle to have a large castle tower. Today, only some remains of the castle remain, such as the stone walls, but we can get a glimpse of its splendor from the records of Luis Frois and others who actually visited the castle at the time. The castle construction techniques developed here served as a model for modern castles that were built all over Japan from the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the early Edo period.
