[Scale] 1/700
The second Nagato-class battleship, Mutsu, one of the Big Seven ships, is now available with new parts! This product is an unpainted kit that requires assembly and painting.
The scale is 1/700, and the model does not include the bottom of the ship.
This product is made up of a conventional (special series) mold and newly designed additional parts.
The battleship Mutsu was built at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal as one of the flagships of the 8-8 Fleet Plan and the second Nagato-class battleship, and was completed in 1921.
The main guns were 41 cm in size, the largest at the time, and there were eight of them.
Between 1934 and 1936, the ship underwent modernization and was beloved as a symbol of the Japanese Navy, serving as the flagship of the Combined Fleet alongside its sister ship, Nagato.
After the refit, the standard displacement was 39,050 tons, the power was 82,000 horsepower, and the speed reached 25.3 knots.
During the first half of the Pacific War, the ship participated in the Battle of Midway and the Second Battle of the Solomon Islands, but did not engage in combat with the U.S. military. In June 1943, it sank after an explosion of unknown origin at Hashirashima Anchorage in the Inland Sea.
The product is based on the appearance of the second Nagato-class battleship, the Mutsu, from December 1941 (at the start of the war) to June 1943 (at the end of the war).
Newly designed parts are available to standardize the differences in the reproduction of equipment, etc. depending on the product release date, and some parts are divided to take painting into consideration. The 12.7 cm twin anti-aircraft gun A-type is divided into 5 parts, and the modeling resolution is improved from the existing 2 parts.
The 9m cutter is made into two parts for painting, and the stand is available as a separate part, or you can choose to use the deck as a one-piece mold.
(Excluding some parts) ・The canvas, wheelhouse and engine room canopy of the 11m motorboat are separate parts to allow for painting.
Each painting is done and assembly and bonding are done later.
・The 12m internal fire launch can now be expressed without the canvas
- The shipboard stand has a molded uneven shape and light holes, giving it a more precise appearance.
-New chrysanthemum crest on the bow
- Newly prepared port lights, for additional expression in areas that were previously omitted
- Added decals for the ship name on the stern (painted in battleship colors) and the white lines on the mast
- The Type 96 25mm twin machine gun is now standardly constructed in two parts, reducing the amount of painting required.
Hull: The starboard and port sides of the hull are one-piece molded parts.
- Mutsu-specific parts reproduce the fairlead and anchor stand position that are different from Nagato.
- The sides of the ship are detailed with detailed carvings of external electrical wiring all around the hull.
Each deck - The upper deck is a single piece of wood with delicate carvings.
- The air intake pipes on the deck are carved with a sharp contrast, and the wooden deck is carved to a depth suitable for lining.
・The bridge base (bridge deck) is made into a single part using a slide mold.
The bridge, mast, and secondary gun reserve command post, which distinguishes the first ship, Nagato, are reproduced with four windows using special parts.
- The lower bridge is a one-piece structure part made by a slide mold
The bridge is constructed by stacking each layer and assembling it, and the floor is made of grating.
- Each floor of the bridge is fitted with detailed equipment, including a binocular telescope.
- The mast tripod is divided into two parts to reproduce the outer shape.
- The cross tree and top yard are made using both integrated and separate parts to recreate their complex shapes.
Main gun turret, chimney, main gun barrel and canvas are integrated, and the elevation angle is fixed
- The main gun barrel is open due to the use of a slide mold.
The chimney is a two-part structure with the left and right sides glued together, and the steam exhaust pipe is a separate part.
- The funnel cap is removed for a precise look.
The rear mast, aircraft equipment, and aircraft work deck are made using slide molds, and the deck side walls are also reproduced.
- Two Type 95 seaplanes are included as carrier-based reconnaissance aircraft, molded in gray.
・Others ・The strip patterns on the floor of the anti-aircraft gun emplacements are expressed with intricate carvings
The 25mm machine gun is a two-part model with precise detailing and an easy-to-paint structure, and comes standard with the 2018 model molded parts.
